As a long time sufferer of depression, anxiety, low self esteem and existential angst I turned towards meditation in 2011 in search of healing and insight. It was on my first 10 day intensive insight meditation retreat in 2012 that I began to tangibly experience a shift towards a fuller and freer way of being. I had a new found faith that ‘everything was going to be ok’. I dove deep into the practise and explored different Buddhist and yogic systems and techniques. Including taking retreats in Thailand, Malaysia, Burma and Nepal. Sometimes for months at a time.
I was drawn to Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) based on it’s modern, holistic and accessible approach and began my teacher training in 2014 with the Mindful Academy. Completing my advanced MBSR teacher training in 2016 I am now a fully accredited teacher and follow the good practice guidelines for the ‘UK Network for Mindfulness-Based Teacher Training’.
Mindfulness continues to help reshape my life, increasing my capacity to be with and respond positively to life’s difficulties. I live a much happier and healthier life now, with more vitality, self confidence, compassion and gratitude. My wish is for others to experience this wellbeing that comes through practising mindfulness.
